Middle school district policies for students and parents
Middle school can be both confusing and exciting for new middle school students. Please click here to view the Middle School Student-Parent Handbook for school policies, such as attendance and tardy arrivals, cell phone policies and dress code, to help create an easier transition for students
Absence/Tardy
- Students must receive a pass from the attendance office to be admitted to class if they arrive after 8:30 a.m. If students are later than 10 minutes to first hour, it is counted as an absence.
- Parents are asked to call the school before 8:30 a.m. if their child will be absent. A staff member will be available beginning at 7:30 a.m. to take those calls. The attendance staff is responsible to call parents when an absence is unreported.
- Students are allowed three late arrivals to school or to class before disciplinary consequences are issued.
- A student’s grade may be affected if their absences exceed nine in a semester.
Electronic Equipment
- Electronic music devices may not be used during the instructional day without approval of the teacher and/or principal.
Dress Code
- All shorts (at their shortest point) must be the length of the longest fingertip in a relaxed position. Any holes in jeans must also be below the length of the longest fingertip in a relaxed position.
- All skirts and dresses must be the length of the longest fingertip in a relaxed position PLUS 2 inches.
- No yoga pants, leggings, tights, or form fitting pants can be worn without a dress code appropriate garment as well. (i.e. a appropriate dress with tights underneath)
- Tank tops, see-through, midriff exposing, low cut shirts, blouses, or sweaters may not be worn.
If you have any questions regarding these policies, please contact your middle school for more information.
