Chromebook Insurance Coverage
The insurance program is voluntary, but families are highly encouraged to participate. If insurance is not purchased at the time of device acceptance, parents/guardians are responsible for the full cost of any repair/replacement of all damage to/loss of the Chromebook. Only damaged charge cords will be covered by insurance (not lost or stolen).
Cases are not a requirement of the Chromebook insurance policy. The Chromebook is drop resistant; however, we still suggest utilizing a case of your choice.
Typical NON-INSURED Repair/Replacement Costs:
- Chromebook (Complete) - $334
- Motherboard - $150
- Screen - $70
- Battery - $50
- Screen Cable - $50
- Keyboard - $40
- Wi-Fi Card - $40
- Charge Cord - $30
- Top Cover - $30
- Touchpad - $30
- Bottom Cover - $20
- LCD Bezel - $20
- Touchpad Cable - $10
Insurance Coverage (Acts of intentional damage will not be covered by insurance, and the insurance policy will be voided.)
Below are the percentages per incident that the purchased insurance will cover. This includes damage or loss (including theft**). Exact repair/replacement costs will be determined at the time of the repair. Insurance can only be purchased once per school year.
- First Incident - 100%
- Second Incident - 50%
- Third Incident - 0%
**Insurance claims of theft must include a completed Broken Arrow Police Report and signed by a parent.
No Refunds. No Prorating.
Insurance must be purchased BEFORE the student takes possession of the Chromebook device. Once a student has been issued their device, insurance will only be issued after the device is thoroughly examined by the ChromeDesk and no damage/breakage has taken place at the time of insurance being purchased. Insurance cannot be purchased after damage to the device has already occurred. Students will retain the Chromebook model throughout their education at Broken Arrow Public Schools. If the model needs to be replaced at any point, it will be the same model as originally issued.
