‘Kindergarten 101’ parent meeting to inform about transitions, curriculum May 9

Broken Arrow Public Schools is pleased to help kindergarten transition become easier for parents by providing an informational meeting that will focus on what to expect as the new school year approaches. The annual “Kindergarten 101” parent meeting will take place on Thursday, May 9, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Central on Main, 210 N. Main Street and will last roughly an hour.

“Kindergarten lays the groundwork for a child's lifelong learning journey by nurturing their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in a supportive environment,” said Director of Early Childhood Teresa Bowker. “During this parent meeting, we will discuss information about curriculum, daily schedules, transportation processes, and all of the nuts and bolts of kindergarten. We encourage all parents with an incoming kindergartener to attend.”

Broken Arrow is proud to have 16 elementary schools that give students a place to embark upon new adventures in a classroom environment. All children who turn five years old by or on Sept. 1, 2024, are eligible for enrollment as a 2024-25 kindergarten student. Online kindergarten enrollment opens Monday, May 13, for new students. Please note enrollment will not take place at this meeting.

Current Pre-K students attending an early childhood center at Broken Arrow Public Schools will not need to re-enroll. Parents will need to update their student's immunization records with their ECC. (Kindergarten FAQ's - English  |  Spanish)

Additionally, the Annual Online Registration Update will begin on April 4. This process allows the enrollment team to quickly and efficiently update addresses, contact information and health consent for students. The completion of these online forms is mandatory in order to be re-enrolled for the next school year.

For further information about accessing the Annual Online Registration Update, please visit the enrollment webpage.
