Secondary Mathematics Sequence of Instruction
The Sequence of Instruction units are working documents and are revised as necessary to meet the needs of our students and teachers.
Vertical Alignment (6th grade - Algebra 2)
Middle School (McGraw-Hill Curriculum)
6th Grade (Math 1 & Math 1 Honors)
*Math 1 Honors includes all of 6th grade + half of 7th grade
7th Grade (Math 2 & Math 2 Honors)
*Math 2 Honors includes all of Pre-Algebra + half of 7th grade
8th Grade (Pre-Algebra)

Advanced mathematics pathway information:
Enrollment in an advanced mathematics courses begins in 6th grade. Enrollment criteria is located in the Math section of the middle school course guide and also available in the “Pre AP/AP Programs” section under the “Students” tab of the district website. Additional information is also included within this Incoming 6th Grade Advanced Math Parent Letter
Note: At the middle school level, students earn high school credit (as a non-math core or additional elective) for successful completion of Algebra 1. This course does factor into the student's overall high school GPA AND does not meet state level graduation requirements of successful completion of 3 math courses between 9th - 12th grades.
