Broken Arrow High School receives new classroom addition due to passage of 2015 bond
With more than 22,000 square feet added and 5,000 square feet renovated, construction of 11 state-of-the-art classrooms and a commons area was recently completed on Broken Arrow High School’s campus.
“We are excited about the learning environment that’s been created at the high school,” Broken Arrow Public Schools Chief Operating Officer Michelle Bergwall said. “To meet the needs of the district’s growing science, technology, engineering and mathematics program, six science classrooms and five labs were built. This new addition also connects three buildings together, which means students will not have to walk outside to get from point A to point B.”
In addition, teachers and staff received a large lounge and meeting room, while students are enjoying additional places to eat. There is also a newly marked entrance to the Field House that is viewable from the parking lot, which makes it easier for visitors to find sporting events.
Energy efficient light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units were also installed.
“The LED lighting and new HVAC units will allow the district to achieve significant energy savings,” Bergwall said. “We remain committed to searching for ways to save energy and money.”
This project, which began in November 2016, was made possible by the passage of the 2015 bond issue. These bond funds allow the district to add classrooms to accommodate growing enrollment, expand and update our facilities and add technology to the classroom.
