Grant Application Process

Thank you for taking the time to enhance Broken Arrow students' educational experience by applying for a grant! Whether a resource comes in the form of goods and services, granted money, or volunteerism, resources help enhance the educational experience for you and your students.

Grant Opportunities

Many grant and donation proposals contain similar questions and/or formatting. Consider utilizing the Helpful Tips cheat sheet to articulate your proposal once, and then drop the verbiage as requested into numerous grant applications. This will save you time if you plan to solicit more than one granting source. Be sure to check out the Quick Links to the left for local, state and national grant opportunities. These websites are normally updated monthly.

Additionally, the Broken Arrow Public Schools Foundation offers a grant opportunity each school year for up to $1,000. The next grant cycle for the Foundation will open in the fall of 2024. The BAPS Foundation Grant does not need to follow the BAPS grant application policy that is listed below.

BEFORE applying for a grant, please read and follow the district's grant application policy & procedures listed below.

When using funding mechanisms such as Go Fund Me, Donors Choose, Fund for Teachers, etc., be aware that if you apply for those grants as an individual rather than as the district or the school site within the district, the IRS may consider whatever is granted to you as taxable income to you personally (as the individual who received the resource). You will then be required by the IRS to complete a 1099. Individuals are strongly discouraged from applying for these funding mechanisms on their own rather than through the district. In order to avoid taxable income complications, please follow district procedures detailed below.

Policy

District policy maintains that once accepted, the gift becomes the permanent property of the School District, regardless of the amount or value (Board Policy 2100).
